Texas professional-practice support

Texas Billing and Credentialing Support

Konnext helps Texas professional practices connect provider enrollment, plan participation questions and professional billing work. Identify the application or change, the exact payer product and service area, and the evidence needed for the next administrative action.

  • Application and maintenance tasks distinguished
  • Exact product and service area identified
  • Responses connected to a next owner

Start with the Texas practice and the work needed

Support is scoped to your professional practice, providers, locations and agreed administrative tasks. This page does not establish a Texas office or a facility-billing engagement. State agencies, licensing authorities and payers make their own decisions; enrollment, participation, coverage and payment are not guaranteed.

Different tracks, separate evidence

Separate the PEMS record from the plan and billing response

A provider application, an existing enrollment update, a company's credentialing process and a claim response are different records. Keep the actual question, available evidence and responsible contact together rather than treating one completed item as confirmation of the whole practice's readiness.

Provider and practice

What to distinguish
Identify the clinician, group, location and task involved.
Evidence or next action
Relevant practice information reviewed by the authorized contact.

PEMS application type

What to distinguish
New enrollment, re-enrollment and revalidation are not interchangeable tasks.
Evidence or next action
Current TMHP guidance, existing status and the application question that applies.

Maintenance or change

What to distinguish
A change to an existing record needs its own review.
Evidence or next action
The current record, change being requested and applicable maintenance instructions.

Company credentialing process

What to distinguish
Ask the company which channel and information it requires.
Evidence or next action
The selected company's current instructions and the responsible practice reviewer.

Product and service area

What to distinguish
A STAR product and a commercial product under a shared brand can have different requirements.
Evidence or next action
Exact product, applicable service area and available participation evidence.

Billing follow-up

What to distinguish
A claim question does not close when an application is submitted.
Evidence or next action
Available response, unresolved item and responsible next contact.

Administrative support

Connect the agreed enrollment and billing work

Choose the administrative support your practice needs and identify the information, access and decisions required for that scope.

Provider and group coordination

Organize provider, group and location information for agreed applications and updates. Track missing information and responses without marking a pending request as approved.

Provider credentialing support

Texas Medicaid readiness

Use current TMHP guidance to identify the relevant PEMS application or maintenance task. Keep the state record separate from the selected plan's participation process.

Medicaid enrollment support

Plan and contract handoffs

Identify the actual company, product, service area and contract question. Retain participation evidence and route unresolved decisions to the responsible plan or practice contact.

Insurance contracting support

Professional billing follow-up

Connect agreed claim preparation, submission or payer follow-up to the available records and responses. Identify the owner of any unresolved clinical, coverage or agreement question.

Medical billing support

Your practice retains responsibility for clinical records and required provider review or approval. Public inquiries are for general business needs only. Do not send patient or claim records, identification documents, tax or bank information, or access credentials.

Administrative handoffs

Give each Texas task an evidence trail and next owner

These steps organize the engagement. They are not a mandatory state or payer sequence, a processing deadline or a promise of network entry.

  1. 01

Define the provider task and intended product

Record the practice, provider, location and whether the question concerns an application, an existing-record change or billing follow-up.

  2. 02

Confirm the channel and authorized records

Identify the relevant TMHP or company instructions, the practice reviewer and permitted access for the agreed work.

  3. 03

    Retain the separate responses

Keep the PEMS status, plan participation evidence and billing response distinct, including any unanswered request for information.

  4. 04

Assign the next contact and action

Connect the unresolved item to a responsible owner and supporting evidence before treating the task as complete.

Texas payer and product resources

Texas Medicaid enrollment and a particular health plan's participation process are separate questions. Identify the program, product and service area before planning the work. These selected examples are not a complete Texas payer list.

Official Texas provider resources

Use the application or company instructions that apply

TMHP's application guide distinguishes enrollment tasks and points to PEMS. TDI provides a standardized credentialing application resource and advises contacting the company about its process. Confirm the actual channel rather than assuming one application establishes every plan relationship.

Official Texas program and credentialing resources checked November 4, 2026. Confirm current guidance for the provider, task and company.

Illustrative administrative handoff

A provider change with separate state and plan questions

Illustrative record, not a client result: A Texas practice is updating a provider's service location. Available: current practice and enrollment information. Open: whether a PEMS maintenance task and a separate plan update apply to the intended product and service area. Owner: the authorized practice contact, with agreed administrative support. Next action: confirm each channel and retain its response before closing the change or billing question.

Texas practice questions

Texas readiness, plan products and responsibilities

What can Konnext support for a Texas professional practice?

We can organize agreed provider-enrollment, plan participation questions and professional billing tasks around your practice. Confirm providers, locations, products, records and responsibility boundaries before work begins.

What is PEMS used for in Texas provider enrollment?

TMHP identifies PEMS as the application channel for Texas Medicaid and other state health-care programs. Start with its current guidance to identify the actual enrollment or maintenance task. Account access or an application submission is not itself confirmation of every plan relationship.

Is a new enrollment the same as revalidation or maintenance?

No. TMHP distinguishes these tasks. Identify the existing record, current status and change or renewal question before choosing instructions; do not treat every provider or location update as a new enrollment.

Does the Texas standardized application guarantee plan participation?

No. TDI provides a standardized credentialing resource and advises contacting the company about its process. Confirm the actual channel, requirements and participation evidence with that company; an application alone does not guarantee network access or payment.

Are all plans under the same insurer brand interchangeable?

No. A Medicaid STAR product, another Medicaid program and a commercial HMO or EPO can have different networks, service areas and participation requirements. The examples here are nonexhaustive official resources, not Konnext partnerships or confirmation that a practice is in-network.

What information should I send through the public inquiry?

Describe the general business need, practice locations and whether the question concerns enrollment, a change or billing. Do not send patient or claim records, identification documents, tax or bank information, passwords or access credentials. Agree on an appropriate authorized handoff separately.

What should a Texas proposal clarify?

Confirm the providers, locations, selected programs and payer products, agreed administrative tasks, practice-supplied records and approvals, authorized access, exclusions and separate costs. State and payer decisions remain outside Konnext's control; no approval date or payment outcome is guaranteed.
